THE STORY BEHIND

Meet the Barrett Family!

Greg and Molly Barrett, owners of Maggie & Moe’s Poplar Flower Shop, have always had a dream of owning their own business. In 2018, they made that dream a reality when they purchased the beloved Poplar Flower Shop. With deep roots in the community and a passion for family, Greg and Molly wanted the name of the shop to reflect the importance of family in their lives. That's when they decided to add "Maggie and Moe’s" to the title, creating Maggie & Moe’s Poplar Flower Shop. While it may be a mouthful to some, it represents everything they believe in—family. Maggie and Moe are Greg and Molly’s daughters—Maggie for Margaret and Moe for Maureen.

A meaningful detail you might notice in the shop’s branding is the shamrock incorporated into the flower shop’s logo. It’s more than just a design choice—it’s a heartfelt tribute to their late son, Patrick. The top of the barn on their property also features a shamrock in his memory. Through this small, symbolic touch, Patrick’s spirit remains a part of everything they create and share with their community.

So, How Did Coffee Become Part of the Story?

It all started with a bit of serendipity—a perfect combination of right place, right time. What began as a plan to fill extra space in what is now the greenhouse of the flower shop quickly grew into something much bigger. Greg and Molly had an idea: coffee + flowers. The thought was simple, yet it resonated with so many. As word spread, their friends at Regional Hospital reached out, suggesting they bring their vision to life in the hospital’s gift shop. And that’s exactly what they did! From 2021 to 2024, they ran a successful coffee pop-up at the hospital.

In 2022, the Barrett family took another big leap—they purchased The Sycamore Farm. As soon as they saw the 1800s farmhouse on the property, they knew it was the perfect spot for their first standalone coffee shop. The farmhouse had so much character and charm, and Greg and Molly were determined to preserve its beauty while creating a warm and inviting space for customers.

Today, Maggie & Moe’s and the Barrett family continue to grow, combining the timeless beauty of flowers with the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. It’s a place where family values meet community spirit—and we can’t wait to share it with you!
